12/19/2014 0 Comments Artist JournalIn this I learned of the many ways to make art out of simple materials, such as tape and a newspaper. The biggest success of this is that I was able to use the different mediums in the art journals effectively. If I were to do it again, I would try to use all of the mediums in my art journal. 12/17/2014 0 Comments Curate Main ProjectFinished In Progress Inspiration What first drew me to this piece is the actual physicality to it and the physical depth of it. I allowed me to use glue in a way I had never before. The main similarity to my object is the levels of the sculpture and the actual images on each level. I Developed my art making skillsAs a first, I used hot glue as my actual medium while using cardboard to make a structure to make my art on. This was completely new to me. I have now learned how to form hot glue into the form I want with little to no trouble. I Solve ProblemsThe main problem I faced in this is trying to get the hot glue to dry in the right place. At first, the hot glue would dry too fast. To counteract this I waited for it to dry but it was a little to long. It took me a while to learn the right amount of time to wait. Another problem is that often times the hot glue would melt into the hot glue around it, result in blobs of glue. Later I found that letting it dry first allows you to stack the hot glue in piles, like snowmen.

11/17/2014 0 Comments Artists Collaborate Main ProjectFor my project, I worked with Peyton, whom made Mario and planned out the animation, Kiran, whom made the Goombas and stair drawing with Morgan, whom made the snake and white board drawing, and Anna, whom helped with filming the animation. In this we had to continuously work together in finding a way make all of the sections fit together. I reflectA main part of this project, we spent looking at the current frame and asking where it was going next. A part that mainly needed it was when we had to pull Mario out of the gun barrel. This took a lot of planing and patience in order to make it look correct. We had to think of many ideas and where we could go with them before we could actually try them out. We take riskAs a group we had decided to go off the paper and onto the floor, which many of us were lacking confidence that we could make it look well, but we wouldn't know unless we tried it. This technique of trying to make a stop motion off of the tripod would prove to be difficult in making the image steady, but ended with a very promising result.

11/17/2014 0 Comments Solve Problems Main ProjectIn this project, I had made a way to move a marble from point A to point B. Not many obstacles had arose, but the biggest one was getting the marble to go on both paths instead of just one side. I developed my art making skillsOne aspect of making my project out of cardboard is that is was almost completely new to me. It was the first time I had ever thought of making art out of cardboard. Also new to me was making a sculpture that was also functional, unlike previous sculptures only showing an image. By the end of the project it was evident that I had become much better with these materials than when I had first started. I ReflectA main part of my project, I had to step back and ask myself, where is it going next. After I would answer that question in my head i would begin to build off of that. If I wasn't able to answer that question i would begin to modify the parts before and then again ask my self the same question again. I would repeat this process over again and plan the path out in my head, giving it it's functionality.

10/27/2014 0 Comments Artist stealI Create Original ArtIn my project, I have created Mary Poppins falling out the sky. In this, I incorporated my own idea into it by finding a very well known image of Mary Poppins and turned the image into the opposite meaning. The source of my inspiration was from a commercial I had seen on the television for Sharknado, which is about sharks being picked up by a tornado and being dispersed about the United States. I then took a very dark idea of things falling out of the sky, and then combined it with a very innocent image, that many people will know. I Solve ProblemsIn the progress of spray painting my project, I had realized that there was no red or with spray paint for the lettering on the poster. This ended up being a very big problem for me, but in time I had realized that I could still use the stencil I had made for the lettering, but with acrylic paint. With a little bit of painting, it had ended turning out just the way I had intended it to be.
